Privacy policy

Who I am
Airport Ops ("the site", "I") is a personal project by Gopal, a web developer based in India. The site is made up of this home page at atc.gopalksharma.com and the live airport dashboards for Delhi and Mumbai. This policy covers all three. You can reach me through gopalksharma.com.
What I collect
Nothing that identifies you by name. There are no logins, forms or comments, so I do not hold personal details such as your name or email.
Usage statistics. To understand which features people use (for example Replay, the tour or the Tower view), the site records anonymous events and page views.
- A privacy-friendly visit counter counts visits and events without cookies and without following you across sites.
- An analytics service is switched on only after you press Allow in the cookie card. Until then it runs in a denied state and sets no analytics cookies. If you press No thanks, or later change your mind, analytics cookies are not used and any existing ones are removed. The service may process data such as an approximate location (from your IP address), device and browser type, and the pages and events you view. Advertising features and personalised ads are switched off.
What is saved in your browser
These small settings stay on your device. They are not sent to me, and they help the site remember your choices.
| Name | What it does | Kept for |
|---|---|---|
| ops-consent | Remembers your cookie choice | Until you clear site data |
| ops-theme | Remembers day or night mode | Until you clear site data |
| ops-tour | Remembers that you saw the dashboard tour | Until you clear site data |
| ops-sound | Remembers if you turned sound on | Until you clear site data |
| Analytics cookies | Used by the analytics service, only if you pressed Allow | Set by the analytics provider, up to about 2 years |
Other services your browser talks to
To show the maps, the flight finder and the data, your browser connects directly to the services below. Like any website, they can see your IP address and basic device details when your browser asks them for something. I do not control their own policies.
- A database service provides the saved aircraft positions, takeoff and landing counts and recent flight tracks. Public read access only.
- OpenSky Network is the source of the live aircraft data, which my server collects and stores. Your browser does not contact OpenSky directly.
- aviationweather.gov (US NOAA) provides the weather reports (METAR).
- adsbdb.com provides route and aircraft details (including a photo) for a flight you select or search on the flight finder page.
- Community aircraft-tracking networks answer the search on the flight finder page. Your browser sends them the flight number or registration you typed, so they can see it together with your IP address.
- Wikipedia / Wikimedia supplies the aircraft photos and descriptions shown in the flight card.
- A web-font provider supplies the Geist typeface.
- Public content delivery networks deliver the open-source 3D library (Three.js).
- A hosting provider serves the site and provides the visit counter.
- An analytics provider processes statistics only if you allow it.
Aircraft data and privacy
The aircraft shown are broadcast publicly by the planes themselves (ADS-B). The site shows call signs, aircraft type, registration and position as received. It does not show passenger or crew information. Shared links such as ?f=… only contain an aircraft code, not anything about you.
Why I use this information
To keep the site working, to understand which features are useful, and to improve them. Where the analytics service is used, it is based on your consent, which you can withdraw whenever you like.
Your choices
- at any time.
- Delete cookies and site data in your browser settings to remove everything stored on your device.
- Use your browser's "Do Not Track" or privacy tools. Browser tracking-protection tools may block analytics.
- Ask me a question or request about your data through gopalksharma.com. Because I do not hold identifying details, I may need the date and a description of your visit to look anything up. Analytics providers may also offer their own controls in your account or browser settings.
How long data is kept
Anonymous analytics are kept for the retention period I have set with the analytics provider and the hosting provider's standard policy. Aircraft position history on the dashboards is short-lived (recent flight tracks are kept for about 8 hours and takeoff and landing records for a limited time).
Children
The site is not aimed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. The database accepts only read access from the public, and the secret keys used to write data are never placed in the pages you load. No system is perfectly secure, so I cannot promise absolute protection.
International transfers
Some of the services above may process data outside India. Their own policies describe how they protect it.
Changes to this policy
If I change what the site does with data, I will update this page and its "Last updated" date. If a change affects analytics cookies, I will ask for your choice again.
